On Wednesday I had plans to meet a friend for lunch, but she got sick (hope you feel better T), so Dean decided he didn't want to stay home all day. So, we decided to take a drive out to see the Flaming River Gorge. Dean has wanted to go see it since we lived here last time. We had a great time! I was far and we left later in the day than we should have, but it was fun nevertheless. The only bummer is I wish I would have taken a picture of the big pink dinosaur we saw in Vernal. How often do you get to see a pink dinosaur? (I guess everyday if you live in Vernal). LOL! I'd say next time I'll take one, but not sure how many more times my travels will take me to Vernal, Utah.
We also saw a ton of wildlife. Well, we saw a ton of deer, but that was more wildlife than we ever saw when we went to Yellowstone. And Jack got to go through his 6th state. We'll add Wyoming to his list of Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah. Here are some pictures. We have a ton more, but these are the better ones.
The sign that explains how the gorge got it's name.
The gorge from the dam.
Bridge on the way to the dam.

Me and Jack
This is a weird, neat light we saw. We figure it was a plane, but it glowed in the sky and was going too fast at too sharp of an angle to really be a plane.
We're not really sure what this is, but it was really pretty in person. It was getting dark, so the picture is way dark. It's a body of water frozen over and the shallower ends are melting.

Pretty. I've lived in Utah my whole life and never been there!
How fun that you got to go someplace and just an impromptu trip. :) We need to get together sometime!
I'm so sorry I missed our lunch! But it looks like you made the most of your day without me. I love getting out and doing things - go back and run the river beneath the dam at Flaming Gorge sometime - it's super fun!
