We went to the Big Island, and boy is that island different than Oahu! It's less crowded and we just had a blast driving around seeing all the beautiful nature sites, hanging out at the beach and pool, snorkeling, shopping and just spending time together.
I'll give you all a guided tour of our vacation via the pics we took. No, I'm not going to put all 150 of them on here, but enough so you all get the gist. Just remember, the camera I think adds 50 pounds, not 10. And no, in the pics I'm NOT pregnant, just look like it. I'm too cheap to buy tank tops before I left, so I wore my maternity ones. Probably not the best idea now looking back on the pics. LOL!
This (believe it or not) is a sunset I took from the lanai from our room!Jack and I at the entrance to Akaka Falls.
A stream on the hike to Akaka Falls.
This is, you guessed it! Akaka Falls! There was a beautiful rainbow below and I'm so glad it turned out in the picture! Dean has taken some beautiful pics of the trip.
The small crater at Kiluea.
Thurston Lava Tube
This place was really quite cool. It was a tunnel and it was so cool inside. A nice break from the humidity of the rainforest outside the tube.
I'm not sure what this is called other than the arch. It was so awesome to look at! Totally worth the drive down to the beach from Volcano National Park.
In (I think) 1998 the lava flowed over the road that goes down by the beach. Now they just call it "End of the Road" It was so surreal to look at because it was obviously once a road and it's now covered in lava.
The vapors where the lava is flowing into the ocean. We didn't see it up close because it's a 5 mile hike on uneven lava (with Jack strapped to me, no thanks), so this is as close as we got.
The vapors coming out of the Kiluea crater. We didn't get to drive all the way around the crater because the road was closed due to the wind blowing the vapors to the south, so this is as close as we got.
Kohala Coast
This is one of our favorite places on the island. It is so beautiful that the pictures don't do it justice.
Jack and Daddy goofing off. Not sure how the boxer pajama bottoms ended up on his head, but I thought it was a cute pic anyway.
Black Sand Beach
Ok, so this wasn't that spectacular as I thought it might be. Call me jaded, but the whole island is filled with black lava, so the black sand beach seemed to be a given. We went anyway and took some pics. Don't get me wrong, it's still really cool!
This is a really cool rock hole thing that Dean found on the way to the Green Sand Beach. We ran out of time and never did find the Green Sand Beach. Oh well, there's always next time!
Well, that concludes the pics of our trip! Sorry there's so many and thanks for sticking it out until the end!
Mahalo!

So cool - at least I got to live a great trip to Hawaii through you! Instead I was "enjoying" my work trip to Boise. Whooo Hoooo! Looks beautiful and completely relaxing and fun. Good for you guys! T
Your trip looks and sounds like it was awesome! It looks like you all had a blast and got to see a ton of stuff. If I never go to Hawaii, I will be sad, it looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, it looks like you all had a blast. I'm so jealous. We lived on Oahu for 6 months when I was 13 or so and it is so beautiful. I want to go back badly!
What great pictures! I love the rainbow one- just beautiful! Glad you had a nice vacation!
Hey, just wanted to let you know I tagged you on my blog! Have fun! :)
I just saw you pull yourself up, and take a couple of steps along the couch. Good job.
